Wing-Sie Cheng

Wing-Sie Cheng has held various positions for UNICEF in Asia for 19 years, and has taken on special assignments with UNICEF New York and UNAIDS Asia-Pacific. She was transferred to the UNICEF East Asia and Pacific office 2 years ago as Regional Adviser, HIV and AIDS.

Ms. Cheng specializes in policy analysis, and research-based behaviour change programmes for public health. She spent the last 6 years with UNICEF in South Asia, including India and Nepal, where she provided technical assistance on the strategic use of communication to change public attitudes, tackle public resistance and induce change in child and adolescent health practices. Ms. Cheng has written many papers that study the successful diffusion of knowledge and innovations at national, sub-national and community level through UNICEF's multi-partners programmes. They demonstrate how a well-organized diffusion process to build up a critical mass of support has brought health benefits to millions of children, contributing to the reduction of disease burden and morbidity. She has also managed a number of Pan-Asian initiatives in partnership with the Music TV, Asian Games and broadcasters in the region.

Ms. Cheng is an Edward Mason Fellow of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University where she graduated with a Master's in Public Administration degree. She has a Bachelor's degree in Social Science from the National University of Singapore.
